When Is Jamb Starting 2023?

Every year students register for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination to stand a chance of gaining admission into their preferred institution. 

Jamb is the body in charge of conducting the UTME and also stands as the middleman between students and the various tertiary institutions in Nigeria.

When Is Jamb Registration Starting?

After the board meeting of Jamb, it was concluded that Jamb registration for 2023 will commence on the 14th of January and end on the 14th of February, 2023. This deadline for registration was later moved to Wednesday, February 22nd, 2023 in a bid to allow those who had issues during registration complete what they started. 

Also, note that all applicants are meant to possess some documents before and during registration. They include;

  • National Identity Number (NIN)
  • Personal Phone Number
  • Jamb Profile
  • Valid Email Account
  • Correct Jamb Subjects
  • O’Level Result
  • Approved CBT Centres
  • UTME Syllabus
  • Jamb Past Questions

Note that having your O’level result is not compulsory at the time of registration, you can input awaiting results and upload them at a later date if you don’t have them. 

When Is UTME Starting?

The Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination is said to commence on Saturday 29th April 2023 to Monday 12th May 2023. For students who registered for Mock Exams, it is slated for Thursday, March 16, 2023. 

All candidates are expected to visit their CBT center before their examination, this will help reduce the challenge of getting lost on the day of the examination. 

What Will I Be Given After UTME Registration? 

After a successful Jamb registration, you’ll be given the following materials;

  • Jamb Recommended Novel for English (Life Changer by Khadija A. Jalli)
  • A CD containing Jamb e-Brochure and Syllabus
  • A Video Message from Jamb Registrar
  • e-Slip as evidence of successful registration

Make sure you request that these materials be given to you, every material will aid your success in the examination. 

What Are The Fees For Jamb Registration?

The fees for Jamb registration do change yearly and sometimes it remains the same, but here are the financial requirement for the year’s examination;

  • UTME/DE application fee — N3,500
  • Reading Textbook — N500
  • CBT center service charge(without mock) N1,700 OR N2,700 (with mock)
  • Registration Centre Service Charge — N700
  • CBT (Examination) Service Charge — N1,000
  • Grand Total Without Mock — N5,700
  • Grand Total With Mock — N6,700

This is a clear estimate of what you’ll be spending if you register at an accredited Jamb CBT center. Any extra charge at your registration may be due to some reasons which will be explained to you. 

How To Apply For JAMB In Foreign Countries

For foreign students who wish to sit for the UTME, you’re expected to download the Jamb application form from their website (http://www.jamb.gov.ng/) and also pay a sum of $20. 

Note that this is only possible for those who reside in the following countries;

  • Abidjan, Cote D’Ivoire
  • Accra, Ghana
  • Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
  • Beau, Cameroun
  • Cotonou, Benin Republic
  • Jeddah, Saudi Arabia

  • Visit www.jamb.gov.ng/efacility
  • Create a profile
  • Next, log in to the profile with your details
  • On your system, look at the left side of your menu, then click on Foreign UTME/DE registration
  • Go through all instructions and follow all guidelines until the payment page
  • You can pay your $20 with your card or using any of the available payment methods. 
  • Lastly, complete the registration directly online

When can I register for jamb 2023/2024?

You are free to register for the 2023/2024 jamb immediately after the portal is open for registration. 

Can I Use the 2023/2024 Jamb Profile For 2023/2024 Jamb Registration?

Yes, you can but it needs to be updated, so do well to include every detail that has changed over the year, like your age, new address, and others. 

When can I create a new jamb profile?

You can create a jamb profile immediately,  as the portal is open 24 hours for that.

Can I register for Jamb without WAEC Result?

Yes, you can. When registering, you can select the “awaiting result” option. You will need to upload your O’Level result to Jamb Portal when WAEC releases results.

Can I Register A Jamb At A Cyber Café?

No. You can only register for the UTME at any accredited Jamb CBT center, anything outside that leads to disqualification.

How long Is the UTME And How Many Questions Set?

You’ll be required to answer a total of 180 questions in 2 hours. 60 questions from Use of English and 40 questions each from 3 other subjects.
